Academic Integrity

The Academic Integrity initiative is the result of rising concerns surrounding cheating and plagiarism and a collaboration among several departments across Wayne State including the Dean of Students Office, University Libraries, English Dept. and the TRC.  The Academic Integrity Committee was formed in 2006 with the following goals:

Academic Integrity

  • create a culture of academic integrity at WSU by raising overall awareness of its importance.
  • provide materials including interactive learning resources to students that demonstrate knowledge of issues regarding academic integrity.
  • provide clear guidelines and support for faculty who encounter problems of academic misconduct.

The Committee's latest endeavor stems from a WSU Educational Development Grant Award, entitled Up-To-Speed in 90 Minutes or Less. This portion of the initiative specifically focuses on creating multimedia vignettes that highlight issues surrounding academic integrity including cheating, plagiarism, fabrication as well as improved writing skills and steps to academic success.

Videos

The following videos are works in progress, but will soon become available to faculty as part of a Blackboard course targeting first-years students to help them get Up-To-Speed on issues of academic integrity.
