Renuka is a PhD Candidate in the Department of English at WSU and an Instructional Consultant for the OTL. She is currently writing her dissertation on Shakespeare and in addition to early modern studies, her research interests include contemporary philosophy and media studies.
Renuka has M.A and M.Phil. degrees in English from Delhi University (India) where she also taught for almost 2 years. As a GTA, she has been teaching introductory level writing and literature courses at WSU since 2005. As a Global Teaching Fellow in 2006, she went to Brazil and co-taught a graduate course on Academic Writing and New Media at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. On her return to WSU, she set up a “collaborative international wiki” on the topic of globalization where her Honors students engaged in peer review activities and created digital artifacts with students from Brazil. Since then she has successfully incorporated emerging technologies in her pedagogical approach (even in her Shakespeare classes).
Renuka is knowledgeable about the utilization of in-classroom technologies, Blackboard and new media, and is interested in sharing her global and cross-cultural pedagogical experiences with others. At the OTL she will offer individual consultations and workshops on Blackboard and will assist in facilitating Brown Bags for GTAs. She also hopes to learn more about instructional design and pedagogy from her seniors who she will be assisting here. Please feel to contact her via email with any suggestions!
