Shari has been a member of the adjunct faculty for the School of Social Work since 2006. Shari holds a master's degree in social work and gerontology from WSU. She is also a 2009 MA candidate; currently completing her essay in linguistic anthropology, also from WSU. In addition to teaching, she has been a faculty advisor for Social Work students and the advisor for one of the school’s several student organizations. Shari is also currently completing her 2 year position as a research assistant on a project with the school’s associate dean.

Shari’s teaching and research area of interests include issues of diversity and cultural competence, as well as minority aging and international aging issues. With the earning of her second master’s degree in linguistic anthropology in May of this year, she now adds to her area of interests contact linguistics, with a focus on pidgin and Creole languages.

As an adjunct faculty member, Shari boasts that she has attended nearly 20 OTL workshops! Needless to say, she has found them quite valuable! As the current Program Coordinator for the Office for Teaching and Learning, some of Shari’s immediate responsibilities will include organizing events, workshops and speakers for GTA’s and new faculty for this summer and the upcoming fall semester, as well as consulting with faculty and leading OTL workshops.

She is welcome to your emails or telephone calls with your suggestions!
