Technology Resource Center Opens
Welcome to Synergy, the newsletter of the WSU’s new Technology Resource Center. This first issue will introduce you to the TRC by profiling its resources and services.
The Office for Teaching and Learning (OTL), Computing & Information Technology (C&IT) and the University Libraries have joined forces at the new TRC to provide faculty with comprehensive state-of-the-art resources to support online and classroom instruction at WSU. Located on the first floor of Purdy/Kresge Library, the TRC houses OTL’s instructional design and technology group, Library Media Services, the Library’s Digital Initiatives Group, and C&IT systems and services including a satellite location of the C&IT Help Desk and the Education Technology Services Group, which houses the Blackboard Support Group and University.
TRC co-directors Nardina Mein (OTL and University Libraries) and Lynne Standley (C&IT) stress the benefits of centralizing classroom technology services and instructional design and faculty development resources in a single location. “The TRC provides help with everything from AccessIDs and electronic grade submission to high-end multimedia production, Blackboard support, and classroom equipment,” said Standley. Mein added, “The TRC was designed to create synergy and to support everyone who teaches courses at Wayne State. It‘s a convenient and comfortable space for faculty to develop instructional experiences for online and classroom instruction.”

Please visit us on the first floor of Purdy/Kresge Library. Our hours are 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with full service during normal business hours and evening consultation by appointment.
